So let's assume you've collected everything you need for hooking up. You open up the box for your DVD player and you will see the following articles. A remote -- set it aside. A package of manuals, coupons and warranties -- set that next to the remote. A bag of wires--if you truly want a theater experience you will want to upgrade the cables. See Step 6 for more information.
Once you get all of your wires set up, go to the back of the player and connect the audio and video out. This is very simple: left is white, red is right and yellow is video. Go to the back of the TV (or in some cases the front) and plug in the jacks. Put batteries in the remote and then take the manual out of the plastic wrap and read how to set up the player for your particular TV. The manual shows how to hook up everything from a stereo system to a DTS converter.
After you have finished setting up, open up the player, put in a disc, take your TV remote in hand and you have DVD in your home.
